Distribution Associate

Job brief

The Distribution Associate verifies and keeps records on incoming and outgoing shipments and prepares items for shipment by performing the following duties.

  • Compares identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records
  • Receives and examines incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages, and corresponds with shipper or purchasing to rectify the issues.
  • Determines method of shipment, for customer orders and return to supplier items, where applicable
  • Prepares customer orders for shipment, including packaging and identification of such orders.
  • Examines outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications.
  • Must be able to lift upto 50Lbs.
  • Must be able to work in an adverse environment.  1- 5 degrees Celsius with proper PPE.
  • Operates tier lift truck or uses hand-truck to move, convey, or hoist shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage or work area.
  • Maintains inventory of shipping materials and supplies
  • Other duties may be assigned

  • While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand.
  • The employee is frequently required to walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear.
  • The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision and ability to adjust focus. Must be able to lift up to 50Lbs and must be able to work in an adverse environment 1- 5 degrees Celsius with proper PPE, ability to stand for long periods of time.

 Computer Skill(s)

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Inventory software and Order processing systems

Additional Skill(s)

  • Excel, Microsoft Word preferred
