Production Planning Supervisor
Job brief
A successful candidate will lead, manage, develop, and retain a team of planners to ensure that every part of the production process is aligned to meet the company's goals, customer needs, and industry standards. The incumbent develops and manages finite scheduling activities in support of Manufacturing operations. Coordinates with MFG staff to ensure schedule accuracy. Submits material work plans via requests from Manufacturing managers, as requested. Coordinates with Facilities, Maintenance, Quality, and other entities to incorporate key support activities into the production schedule.
Position Responsibilities:
- Lead, manage, develop, and retain a team of planners.
- Develop and maintain a finite scheduling system in support of the daily/weekly production schedule based on demand forecasts, inventory levels, and available resources.
- Ensure that manufacturing targets, deadlines, and order deadlines are met while minimizing delays.
- Monitor and maintain optimal inventory levels for bulk, work-in-progress, and finished goods.
- Coordinate with procurement teams to ensure timely ordering of materials to avoid shortages or overstocking.
- Monitor the manufacturing process to identify potential bottlenecks or delays.
- Coordinate schedule changes with Mfg., Facilities, Maintenance, Quality and PD and escalate issues as necessary to ensure seamless production execution.
- Manage the X-Month schedule look-ahead for production and adjust accordingly to the long-term production schedule.
- Manage scheduling meetings with key staff members.
- Coordinate with procurement teams to ensure timely ordering of materials to avoid shortages or overstocking.
- Monitor the manufacturing process to identify potential bottlenecks or delays.
- Support coordination of material planning and work orders in support of production readiness in all areas of manufacturing.
- Track manufacturing progress and provide regular updates to management on production status, including any issues that might impact timelines.
- Prepare and analyze reports related to production efficiency, waste, downtime, and any other key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Develop and communicate schedule adherence Key Performance Indicators (Monthly KPIs).
- Integrate key Preventive Maintenance (PM) activities into the production schedule in support of minimal interruption to Manufacturing operations via coordination with Facilities and MFG staff.
- Create and manage manufacturing support requests (e.g., environmental monitoring schedule)
- Initiate, track, and close Work Orders.
- Directly assist MFG managers and other functional teams with MFG support tasks when requested (e.g., documentation reviews)
Requirements
Position Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in production planning, demand forecasting, or supply chain management, with minimum of 2 years in a supervisory role.
- Strong communication, organizational, analytical and cross-functional skills required.
- Solid understanding of ERP systems (JDE Preferred).
- Minimum of associate's degree required; B.S./B.A. preferred.
